After you have made and unpacked your new battery from us you will note that they will have a good charge in them, regardless of this you should still complete a full maintenance charge before first use, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains with its own built in charging circuit like a monitor or maybe a alarm system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, there should be no need for many hours, it will probably not take very long at all as its almost fully charged already, just until your charger indicates they are ready, this will of course depend on the charger capabilities, this first step is important so please do ignore it, unless of course as otherwise stated above, do not use without this initial charge, doing so can shorten expected life span
