When you place an order and it is delivered to you the batteries will be almost fully charged, but regardless of this you should still complete a charge them before first use, this will not be necessary only if being fitted in something that has its own built in charger that is always connected to the mains like an alarm system which will do the job for you, it shouldn't take long as its almost fully charged already, just until the charger lights indicates its ready, if really in doubt overnight will be more than enough but it's doubtful you would need to leave it on the charger that long, try to make sure you do not miss the initial charge (unless of course being fitted in a device with own circuit as stated above), doing so may well reduce overall life expectancy
