The battery pack that you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but you should still charge them before first use, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains with its own built in charging circuit like a monitor or maybe a alarm system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, it shouldn't take long as its almost fully charged already, just until the charger lights indicates its ready, if really in doubt overnight will be more than enough but it's doubtful you would need to leave it on the charger that long, do not just fit them without this initial charge, it will not take long anyway, it will not take long as it is almost fully charged anyway and it may help to extend the battery life overall
While is not something that most will even notice but if being used in a portable piece of equipment it could take a number of charges and corresponding use in the device before a full capacity charge is reached, this is a normal part of the conditioning process, each time you have used your battery in a more portable device then you should put it back on charge as soon as you can, it is not wise to leave it sitting in a semi discharged state for any longer than necessary, do not go out of your way to try discharge the batteries fully, this will not extend the life of them, quite the contrary, it will reduce life span quite drastically so cost you money in the long run, if for any reason you are not using them for long periods then you should recharge every 4 to 6-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours at a time
These are 6-volt valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries and will not leak, sealed lead acid, the acid is held within a glass mattering and will not leak, no maintenance is required, they are both AGM and VRLA, of course they are the required deep cycle kind and they are not-hazardous so safe for use in portable equipment, medical and indoors
We have provided the information here purely as a guide, it would be wise to check the code carefully as so many of them are pretty similar so it's easy to make a mistake, you will also find we have listed the relevant dimensions so you can make sure you are ordering the correct one, looking at your old power pack and taking note of the dimensions and anything that may be printed on the side is probably the best thing to do, the batteries themselves are 6-volt 3.2ah and have a very high lead or Pb content so they are easy to recyclable, more detailed information about recycling lead batteries can be found on a link at the foot of this page
