Even though the batteries you receive from us after placing your order will be almost fully charged you should still complete a full charge before first use, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains with its own built in charging circuit like a monitor or maybe a alarm system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, there should be no need for many hours, it will probably not take very long at all as its almost fully charged already, just until your charger indicates they are ready, this will of course depend on the charger capabilities, while you may well be tempted just to fit without charging if it's going in a portable device its worth completing the charge first as it may well extend the life of them

If you are a normal user then you will probably not even notice it but if it's being used in a portable device it can take up to ten charges and associated use in your equipment before its capable of accepting a full capacity charge, this is all part of the conditioning process and quite normal, each time you have used your battery in a more portable device then you should put it back on charge as soon as you can, it is not wise to leave it sitting in a semi discharged state for any longer than necessary, we have heard of people trying to extend battery life by running them all the way down, do not attempt this with this kind of technology, fully discharging your new batteries will only reduce the overall life span and they will need changing earlier, this will cost you money in the long run, if for any unforeseen reason they is an extended period where you are not using the batteries make sure they are fully charged first, then recharge every four weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours

These 6-volt batteries are valve regulated and AGM or absorbed glass mat, not need for any liquid as the acid is held within the glass mat, this means they will not spill and not-hazardous so safe for use around the home and or portable equipment, they are deep cycle which would be required in this sort of application
