The PXL12050, RBC45 & SLA-12V4-5 batteries will be delivered with a very good charge in them, but even so you should still charge before using for the first time, if you are using the battery in something like a UPS system you can skip this step as it will complete the charge for you after installation automatically, and do a far better job of it than you could do manually. You do not need to leave it on for hours on end; it will probably not take very long at all, depending on the charger. Just until the charger indicates it has finished, you might want to use them, but that would be unwise unless, as stated above, missing out on charging them first could shorten overall life expectancy.
Unless you are a very extended user you will probably not even notice that it can take a number of charge and use in your equipment before a full capacity charge is achieved, this is all part of the conditioning process and quite normal, you should fully charge as soon as you can after every single use, do not leave them sitting in a semi discharged state any period unless really necessary. Never go out of your way to deliberately discharge fully; this will not reset them, only reduce their overall lifespan. If it turns out there are periods when the equipment is not being used regularly, ensure the batteries are fully charged before any downtime and topped up every 4 weeks, but do not leave them on the charger for more than 24 hours.
These 12V PXL12050, RBC45 & SLA-12V4-5 batteries are constructed as AGM (absorbed glass mat) and VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid). They are deep-cycle and non-hazardous, so suitable for use indoors or in portable devices. They will not leak any of the features that make them useful for this kind of application; they, of course, do not require any maintenance.
