When the input power source or mains power fails, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provides emergency power to a load. A UPS, unlike an auxiliary or emergency power system or a standby generator, will provide near-instantaneous protection from interruptions in input power by supplying energy stored in batteries, supercapacitors, or flywheels. The on-battery run-time of most uninterruptible power sources is relatively short (only a few minutes), but it is sufficient to start a standby power source or properly shut down the protected equipment.

The APC Smart-UPS X series is a 2U rack mountable uninterruptible power supply which can be used in a tower orientation. It has a liquid crystal display (LCD) to inform you what's going on, 1500VA (1.5 kVA), 1200w (1.2 KWatts). It has many valuable features to maintain longer life of batteries with temperature and voltage controlled charging. The battery cartridge it contains is a RBC115, this is situated behind the front bezel or cover and can easily be removed. This offer is for a set of four batteries to fit inside the cartridge, fitting is quite easy just swap the batteries over. Our batteries are the higher amp hour 12v 9AH versions, they are valve regulated and sealed so safe for use in such a application, expected life span is between 3 to five years in normal conditions, this can of course be effected by lack of ventilation or over use. The batteries have AGM technology and hot swap capable.
