Installing the new batteries in to the UPS is not a difficult job, certainly well within the reach of most people, you can refer to your user manual for the method if required, they are designed to be replaced, the ones we send to you will be almost fully charged but the UPS will still complete a service charge upon installation. of course while this charge going on your UPS will not be in a position to offer the full runtime protection until its finished this. you probably just want to install and leave the system to its devices but its best to run the system without a load to so it can properly reset.
It would not be unreasonable to hope for a 2-5 year life span of batteries in the UPS, this will be very dependent on the associated use and the where the system is kept, one thing to make sure is the vents have access cool air, quite often they are tucked under desks or other such warm places with little ventilation, the batteries will get hot that's normal, but the hotter they are the shorter their lifespan will be. to get a long battery life you should try to keep the load below 40%, if you have added more devices over time this may have crept up, its capable much more but the pay off will be battery life so it's a balancing act.
These batteries will require no general maintenance whatsoever, this of course does not include charging, they are AGM and VRLA, they are also not-hazardous so safe to use in busy data centres or the home office, they can be used in rack mountable or tower systems as they will not leak if mounted on the side.
Many codes on UPS systems are very similar, carefully check them before ordering to ensure you are getting the right pack, the batteries themselves are recyclable, more detailed information about recycling lead batteries can be found on a link at the foot of this page.
