The first thing to note is are you looking at the right battery pack, there are a lot of APC Smart-UPS 1500 systems. this pack is for the SUA1500RMI2U, it is a 2U rack-mountable system which takes the battery module, if you know it takes this then it's fine.
Changing the batteries yourself is an easy job and will save you money of a call-out fee, we will explain how to do it below, the only tools you will require are a flat and Phillips screwdriver.
The first thing to do is to shut down all the equipment behind the UPS and then the UPS itself, ensuring you remove the power cord.
The front panel will clip off and to the left will be four Phillips screws holding on the battery module, remove these, then unplug the connector and slide out the module and put it on a flat surface.
You will see the four batteries that you will be replacing, these are often stuck down with double-sided tape to the case, if so use a flat-edged screwdriver to prise them up, and use the battery next to it to prise against as the case itself is not very strong, then you are just replacing the batteries will the new ones, two cables on each very clear battery, if you want you can use more double-sided tape to stick the new ones back down.
Then it's just a matter of putting it back in the reverse order, the whole job will take no more than ten minutes.
