It is powered by four 6v batteries that combine to produce 24v in the system, these are wet cell type, offering good competitive energy price per amp-hour, this type of battery does need some maintenance, check there is fluid covering the plates periodically, charge the batteries when they arrive and before use, its better to recharge after every use than to allow them to rundown so make that part of the maintenance regime, also if not being used then a recharge every four weeks would be advised
