AGM batteries or absorbed glass matt constructed cells are sealed and will not leak, they have the benefit of being able to mount them on the side without any fear of leakage, this can be quite a bonus in portable type equipment, they are not-spillable and not-hazardous so safe to use in environments that may be issues with spilt chemicals and as such much easier to transport.
