The natural energy loss on a lithium battery is quite good compared to other technologies but they still need to be charged. Charge fully when it arrives and before using for the first time. Then do so when you have finished using the tool and before putting it away if it’s not going to be used for many weeks. Plus every eight weeks during the off season if they are only being used during the summer months.
The death of many a power tool battery is being left without a charge for long periods, this is also true of lithium, in fact even more so. The battery pack will have a number of smaller cells inside that are connected is series and parallel to provide the voltage and energy storage for use. If they are left for long periods these smaller cells will slowly but naturally start to discharge at different speeds, if one of them drops too far your charger will not recognise the battery pack and therefore not be able to complete a charge, even the cells may well have a possible long life still in them. Moral of this is to maintain a good charge in them, it will save you money replacing a otherwise perfectly good battery pack.
You will note this is a 3ah version of the battery, much more energy storage than the ones often supplied from new with power tools, this enables much more use on a single charge, twice as much as the 1.5ah, that's a lot more work than can be achieved.
