If you have left your cordless power tool for many months in a cold damp shed and it does not seem to take a charge, or it will but it will not last long, even draining overnight then its kaput, you need a new one, putting it on charge for 3-days is not going to make any difference, you have not maintained the charge in the cells and now they are not capable of receiving one

Once you have resigned to the fact that you need a new battery here how to look after it, charge when the order arrives if you do not use the tool much then charge before putting it away and every 8-weeks to keep the cells active, all rechargeable batteries will lose a little bit of energy every day, over time that builds, its when the cells have no energy in them that they will start to deteriorate so keep them charged, however there is a but, do not leave them on the charger for any longer than needed to get a full capacity charge else you could be doing more damage than good
