The Liebert GXT2-20 batteries that you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but your UPS will still need to complete a full service charge, you should note that while this is going on the system will of course not be able to offer the full runtime backup time period until it has finished doing this, if you can manage it the best advice would be to allow the initial charge to complete without any load, we know this may not be convenient in a lot of installations.
It would be reasonable to expect a life span of 2-5 years of Liebert GXT2-20 batteries in this kind of device, this will unfortunately be very dependent on the general conditions its put under, ventilation is important, best placed to site would be in an air conditioned communications room, batteries will in general get hot if the heat cannot disperse it will shorten life span, try and keep the constant load below 40%, while it may well be capable of much more it will shorten the battery life so it's a balancing act.
These Liebert GXT2-20 batteries are absorbed glass mat, AGM and valve regulated sealed lead acid or VRLA for short, they require no maintenance and due to their internal chemistry can be mounted on the side in rack mounted or tower UPS systems without the fear of leakage, they are not-hazardous so can be used in busy data centres, hospitals and of course the home office.
