Charge your new battery when you receive it, it will not take long as it will come out to you almost fully charged, this type of battery is capable of many charges in its life but that is only if you do not run it down or leave it in a discharged state. The best advise would be to charge it as soon as you after each and every use and if not using for long periods then a top up charge every 6-weeks should keep it in good shape.
