The Yamaha FZR-400 had a 399cc liquid cooled power plant to chain drive via a six speed box. twin discs to front and single to rear. certainly not the fastest 400 in its day and not the best built for European wet winters with corrosion causing a few issues, but it did handle extremely well and so many spent a life on the track where its high revving engine could be used to its full.
Keeping your battery in good order is not a science, its very easy, they like to be fully charged, if you use your bike a few times a week, every week all year round then it will last, its when they are not being used that the issue, the best advice we can give if your FZR-400 spends its winters in the garage is to remove the battery, take it off the cold floor and recharge it every 4-weeks, do not leave it on the charger any longer than required to obtain a full capacity charge, do not leave it on a trickle charger unless you have purchased a very good one with battery temperature sensors and so forth (most of them available are not worth using).
If you have not already checked your old battery serial codes against this one then do so, this is only a guide, it would be unwise to order this compatible battery without checking first it will say something like YB12AL as it can delay you having the correct battery by days if you order the incorrect one and have to send it back.
