The Ducati 749 has a 748cc V-twin 8 valve power-plant, the early 749s had electrical issues that could affect the tickover and it certainly needs regular servicing and throughout the years new management and fuel chips were fitted. the first ones were also slower that the later ones which was overcome with tweaked engines. Despite a few issue and possibly because of a few quirky ones they have a very strong following, lovely to handle and absolutely gorgeous to behold, this is a owners bike to love and cherish.

Many of these Ducati are only rode during the summers months, and to keep them looking beautiful i cannot blame you, who wants salt all over that gleaming paint work, the problem lays though that the battery does not get used enough to keep it charged, so out best advice would be to remove it and recharge every four weeks. if its removed then you do not have to worry about anything draining it down like a poor fitting electrical connector or immobiliser for that matter. Only charge until a full charge has been reached then remove, most of the trickle chargers we see aimed at bikers are not worth using, so do not, unless yours have things like temperature sensors they are not worth using if you want it to work the following spring.
