This battery is a valve-regulated lead-acid type battery otherwise known as VRLA, The acid is chemically suspended within a membrane between the lead plates it is absorbed by a glass mat or AGM, which ensures it will not leak as there is no liquid, it can be mounted on its side and is often used in portable medical monitoring equipment as well emergency alarm systems as it is a safe, non-hazardous and reliable power source.
This battery type is best kept charged if being used in something like an alarm system with its mains power then you will not have to be concerned about the charging of the battery as this will be taken care of by the onboard circuit, it will do probably do a much better job of it than you can and typically batteries will last many years in such applications.

If the battery is going in a more portable product where the charging of it is dependent on your interaction then charge upon receipt, and recharge after every use. It is not a good idea to run it down between charges, this will only shorten the life that could be expected from the cells. we would recommend that you charge the battery fully after every use. Do not leave it partially discharged any longer than is necessary, charge the battery fully before first use, you may be aware that it can take several uses and charging cycles of your new battery pack before the battery could be classed as conditioned and able to accept a full charge to the optimum capacity, this is quite normal. Do not leave it on the charger for more than 24 hours.
If you are not using your new battery for long periods then you should charge it every five or six weeks to make up for the natural energy seepage that will occur.
