They are valve-regulated sealed AGM and will not spill even if laid on the side, as is often the case in portable versions; they are not hazardous and safe for public transport and even airlines, although you should check when booking your flight.

Charging your new mobility batteries will ensure a longer life span; charge fully before first use; this will not take long as they will come to you almost fully charged. Recharge after every use; it will not do them any good sitting around in a discharged state, so give them a charge as soon as you use. In an ideal world, you would be better never to use the last 20% of capacity; this will assist the cells in prolonging their life span and saving you money in the long run. Also, if not using them for extended periods, a recharge every six weeks will slow down the natural self-discharge and associated energy loss.
