Fitting the batteries in this UPS is very easy, certainly within the capability of most people willing to try, and you can save a lot of money by doing so on a call-out fee. The only tools you need will be a Phillips screwdriver.
Before you attempt to fit the new batteries, unpack the order from us, you will see four batteries in the box; they may have white plastic covers over the terminals, which will need to be removed before fitting.
Ensure that you have a period that you can shut down any computers or other equipment that your APC Smart-UPS RT-1000 is guarding. Once this is done, you can power down the UPS and remove the power lead from the main socket.
The front panel pulls off, and you will see the metal frame of the case. On the left side, two Phillips screws can be removed and below these, a connector plug to be detached. Once done, you can slide out the battery module using the handle attached and put it on a flat service alongside your new batteries.
There is a holding strap over the top of the batteries. Use a screwdriver to undo the screws and remove them. From here, it is just a matter of swapping over the batteries once and reconnecting the leads, then reversing the order to put them back in the UPS. The task will only take ten minutes from start to finish.
