VRLA which stands for valve regulated lead acid batteries are sealed, they are vented to allow any possible gas to escape but they are not-hazardous so can safely be used indoors and in portable equipment, they also benefit from having absorbed glass mat technology or AGM for short, they need no maintenance throughout their life and will not leak so can be mounted on their side, often found in portable devices as well as demanding and critical battery backups.
