After placing your order and upon receipt of your new battery pack you may will note that they have a good charge in them, but you should still charge them fully before using for the first time, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains like an alarm or UPS system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, the charger will have LED lights which will indicate whether it is still charging or not, you only need to charge them until they are ready, probably not very long at all, you might just want to use them, but that would be unwise, unless as stated above, missing out on charging them first could shorten overall life expectancy
