This range of cordless impact wrench's are very tough, they have been around a good few years and have a good reputation, you will struggle very hard getting something of this quality in today's market place so it's more than worthwhile getting a new battery for it. They do not need much looking after, but they do need charging, do so when it arrives and first use, the best advice we can give is to use it a lot, they love to be used and charged, if this is not something you do then try to simulate the act by charging before you put it away and every six weeks, this will at least keep the cells fresh.
