This battery type is valve regulated sealed lead acid, it will not spill and can be mounted on its side, safe to use in mission critical environments, found in quite an array of utilities including security alarms and the such, absorbed glass mat AGM.

If your new battery is being fitted in something like an alarm system that has its own built in charging circuit then that will probably look after your battery automatically far better than you can.
