These non-spillable valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries, or VRLA are also AGM, they have a tough rugged case and are often used in security alarms, fire, emergency lighting and medical devices, can also be used in portable equipment and extreme critical environments without fear of spillage.

Generally these are used as standby power, with built in charging systems to keep the cells topped up with energy far more efficiently than you could manually so a connect and forget attitude can be afforded.
