This 18v lithium power tool battery can be used by all of the tools in the range, it is a 3ah version, quite often many of these tools came with a 1.5ah. so that means this will last twice as long between charges. so two times the work output before having to put it back on charge. When you might be on a deadline this can be invaluable. When you receive your new battery you should fully charge and before first use. The best advice we can give is to use the battery a lot, they really do not like standing around with out a positive charge in them. Many a good battery goes this way, purely because of lack of charging, while we do not mind because you have to buy another, it is not exactly good for your pocket.
