The 18v-Power-For-All Alliance allows the battery to be shared among loads of different tools, from drills and jigsaws to grass trimmers and lawn mowers. This means that the most expensive part of a new tool, the battery itself is a common part. Now on the face of it this just seems to be handy. But in reality its much more than this. The issue in owning cordless tools is that the batteries need replacing long before the tools run out. This is because they just are not used enough and allowed to sit a discharged state.
