There are two batteries in this offer with available selectable upgrades, please read the notes below.
Upgrading your Drive Ambassador batteries, 50ah AGM or 70ah GEL
The standard recommended batteries for the Ambassador scooter are a pair of twelve volt fifty ampere AGM batteries and that’s exactly what this page is offering. Drive-Medical suggests that the Ambassador mobility scooter is also able to take larger GEL 70ah (73.6ah) batteries. These are physically larger so if you are unsure if your scooter has been set up to take these then we suggest that before ordering you take a look under your seat and check that they will fit. The dimensions of the larger batteries are L:259mm x W:169mm x H:209mm. There is also a link for these on the alternatives tab for more detailed information.
Looking after your new Drive Ambassador batteries
These sealed lead AGM batteries are non-hazardous, non-spillable, recyclable, and not-hazardous. Your batteries should be nearly fully charged when they arrive, but battery care is critical; fully charge the batteries before the first use. Putting the batteries on charge after each use is a good habit that will keep them in good shape for as long as possible. If eight weeks have passed and the batteries have not been used, it is strongly advised that you charge them completely. Never charge the batteries for more than 24-hours because this can cause serious damage.
Installation and user guide
The manual has plenty of information on the maintenance of the whole mobility scooter not just the batteries. This sort of information is necessary for a user or owner of a Drive Ambassador mobility scooter so please feel free to download, keep and print off for future reference. Installation of the new batteries is outlined in this manual so if you need detailed instructions please look in there however it is not a difficult job. They can be accessed by lifting the seat and removing the plastic cowling, if you may forget how the terminals are connected then take a photo before removing so you have something to refer back to.
