The Excel-Airide manufactured by Van-Os-Medical is the original model for the Airide Powerchairs and remains a market leader. It got its name from one of its best features which are that comes standard with air suspension that can be adjusted to your specific needs. It also has a lightweight extruded aluminum frame, and the standard chair can be configured as front or rear-wheel drive, making it truly versatile and unique. The Airide features a one-of-a-kind air suspension system that provides a smooth and pleasant ride while out and about, as well as a comfortable padded cushion with tension straps for maximum comfort. The leg rest swings away, making it easier to get on and off the powerchair. The vehicle has a weight capacity of twenty-five stone, a twelve-mile radius on a single charge, and a top speed of up to eight mph.

A note on the upgrades
There are a few different variations of the Airide and some of them require a different set of batteries. This battery set is for the original Excel-Airide which can take a pair of fifty amperes as standard or for greater range, the larger 75ah. The higher ampere versions can be selected on the easy upgrade section above or more detailed information can be found on the alternatives tab. The smaller versions of this chair cannot take the upgrade as they are physically too large so if you are unsure of what you can use we strongly recommend taking a look a what you currently have and comparing it with the information on this page.
Taking care of Excel-Airide batteries
A powered wheelchair like this is many users' lifeline to the outside world and allows them to have freedom. The batteries are the powerchair's source of energy and without them cannot function. This is why it is so important to, look after them properly and b, ensure the batteries are of the utmost quality. Although these batteries are classed as maintenance-free, they do require a healthy charging regime. This can be achieved by fully charging upon delivery and before first use. You also need to ensure that after every use they are fully charged and never left in a discharged state. Lastly, if the chair is going into storage or not being used for some time that they are fully charged first and then topped up with a charge every month or so.
Installation and user manual
The Excel-Airide comes standard with a pair of twelve volts, fifty-ampere batteries, which we are offering here. Their physical size is the same as what you may have installed, so they should be simple to install. The batteries are filled with lead, which may be the most difficult part of the installation as they are heavy. The user manual (available on the downloads tab) contains detailed instructions on how to do this yourself; however, if you are still unsure, please contact a professional.
