Ritar are a manufacturer of batteries that are used in a huge range of applications, far too many to list here. They offer small 6v 1ah for little alarms all the way up to large 12v 28ah batteries that could be found in industrial machines like, for example, pallet trucks. The RT12140 is somewhere in the middle of this range and could be used for an endless list of uses but some of the common ones would be uninterruptible power supply (UPS), mobility scooters and powerchairs or emergency lighting systems. Maintenance advice
As this battery can be found and used in many different devices the maintenance advice will vary slightly. If going into a UPS machine or something with its own charging system then the computer will do a much better job at maintaining a good charge better than you can. However if being used in a device where you have to charge, such as a mobility scooter then you should fully charge before use and after every use. Never leave in a discharged state and if possible try to not to run it down past 20% charge. If going into storage then obviously fully charge first and top up every five weeks to slow down the natural self discharge all rechargeable batteries have.
Environmentally Friendly
As this battery is mostly made of Lead (Pb), which is recyclable, then please do your upmost to make sure it is recycled when the time comes. Depending on use and care, it should last somewhere between 2–5 years so one trip to local recycling centre shouldn’t be an issue. If you are unsure where this is then your local council will be able to advice you.
