The SMC1000iC Tower unit is one of the smaller machines in this range so the time will be low but enough until computers or IT equipment can be shut down correctly. It has a power capacity of 600W and 1000VA and since it is part of the SMC range has a new feature. The "C" simply indicates "SmartConnect," a clever communications feature that makes Smart-UPS even more adaptable and straightforward to deploy. APC SmartConnect provides you with secure web portal access to the status of your UPS. This innovative remote monitoring interface will provide you with automatic notifications, firmware updates, and advanced support.

There are two batteries in this set as required for this tower.
SMC1000iC battery Installation:
Pull off the front cover from here and you'll see a couple of Phillips screws holding the battery door, this will lead to stopping the annoying beeping sound your UPS is making. Unscrew these, then the connector, and slide the battery pack out. You can now see that switching the two batteries is a fairly simple process. Simply remove the wires from the old batteries and reattach them to the new ones in the same manner. Once everything is connected and secure, replace it in the machine, making sure all of the screws and toggles are in the correct positions.
Battery Maintenance:
According to the manufacturer of the batteries and APC, depending on usage, these should last between two and five years. A few pointers on how to make them last until the end. After installation, run the system without any load to ensure that the batteries are at ease in their new surroundings. You should also keep the UPS system in a well-ventilated area to keep it cool and clean, and use less than 40% load if possible.
