The Komfi-rider PW-1800 is an electric folding powered wheelchair. It comes with foam-filled tyres and electromagnetic brakes and has a quoted distance of twenty miles. But this would be very dependant on many factors, users weight, road condition and most importantly quality of the batteries.
It has two battery boxes that live underneath, and this offer is for a pair of batteries to go inside of them. Changing the batteries is relativity easy. Just undo the screws from below, holding the lid on, and you will see them. It should take no more than ten minutes if you have never done this before for each box.
As standard, it is powered via two 12v 35ah batteries, which is what this offer is for. Pair of valve-regulated sealed lead batteries that will not leak is not hazardous and are safe for travelling. We can offer a larger capacity version for more miles per charge. If this option is available, it will be in the easy upgrades drop-down menu above.
Charging and maintenance:
The batteries supplied to you will be almost fully charged, but of course, as with all rechargeable batteries, you should charge upon receipt. It should not take very long. The best advice we can give for looking after them ongoing is to charge as soon as possible after use. Allowing them to sit in a discharged state will not be a good idea. If they are not actively used for long, recharge every six weeks to keep the cells in good order. Only leave on the charge for as long as required. Overnight is okay, but not for days at a time.
It will probably take a few charges and use in the wheelchair before your new batteries hold a total capacity charge. It is normal and doubtful that you will notice it unless you make excessive trips the first few times.
Recycle your old batteries:
The batteries we supply will have high lead content in their construction. This is perfect for recycling into another helpful product.
