Charge the battery when it arrives, it will probably have more than enough power to turn the engine over but of course, it's best practice. If you are using the equipment regularly then it would normally be expected that the onboard system would charge the battery keeping it in good order. If there are periods where it is not being used for more than four weeks then recharge every four weeks to keep the cells in good order. Might be a good idea if it spends a whole season not being used to also disconnect from the frame just in case there is a wet joint draining the cells.

The battery is formed mainly from lead so it is capable of being made into another product at the end of its life please ensure it's directed to a recycling center when the time comes.
