This battery pack is often seen on generators that start the engine but, of course, can be used on other pieces of equipment.
It is valve-regulated sealed lead acid. It does not need any maintenance, but it does need to be kept charged. Charge fully when it arrives and is first used, although it will be pretty much charged anyway. If it goes in something like a generator, this will take care of the charging for you, but only if it's used regularly. If the battery is not used often, recharge every six weeks to keep it in good order.
It will take around ten charges and use in the equipment before it is capable of accepting a full capacity charge; this is a normal part of the conditioning that every rechargeable battery goes through from the new.
The battery type is lead acid, AGM and valve-regulated VRLA; it will not spill and can even be mounted on its side, so it is very suitable for portable devices.
The 6-FDQ-17AH battery's main content is lead, which can be recycled very easily. When it has reached the end of its usable life, please ensure it is directed to a recycling centre.
