This page is for sealed lead acid, valve-regulated, non-spillable, not-hazardous, GEL 8GU1 batteries manufactured in the USA by East-Penn, the parent company of MK. These features make the battery very tough and allow the battery to be mounted on its side without leaking, which also makes it safe for public transport and air travel.

Please note we also do a version of this battery with handles; the moulding makes them slightly longer towards the top, so they are not always suitable; the link to them will be in the alternatives tab.
They require zero maintenance apart from a good charging regime if you want to keep them in top condition for as long as possible. We would recommend that upon delivery of the batteries they are given a top up charge until they are full, this will not take long as they will have close to full charge prior to dispatch. The next important takeaway from this is never to leave them in a discharged state; therefore, charging after every use is essential.
Please note that it will take several charges and uses in your device before the MK 8GU1 batteries are able to reach full capacity, this is very normal.
For installation instructions, we would recommend looking in your manual; however, it is not difficult and shouldn’t take very long.
