Group sizes are a simple way of making sure you pick the right battery for your equipment. A Group 27 battery has a standard size of around 306mm x 173mm x 225mm, although there can be slight differences depending on the manufacturer. Getting the dimensions right is key, as the battery often needs to sit securely in its tray or compartment. A typical Group 27 wet battery will provide between 85–110Ah, offering strong cranking power as well as dependable deep-cycle performance when properly maintained.

Being a flooded design, this type of battery requires the most amount of care and attention. You must occasionally check to keep the electrolyte at the correct level, along with regular charging (most importantly after every use) to prevent sulphating. Always keep the battery upright to avoid spillage and ensure good ventilation during charging, as hydrogen gas is released. If there will be an period of time of 6 weeks when the battery will see no use, please top up with charge.
