Battery groups provide a clear standard for sizing, and the Group 27 footprint is 306mm x 173mm x 225mm, ensuring compatibility across many vehicles and systems. A Group 27 GEL battery offers between 85–100Ah and uses gel electrolyte technology to provide safe, stable and consistent performance.
Unlike a flooded battery, the electrolyte is locked in a gel, meaning it cannot spill or leak. This makes GEL batteries virtually maintenance-free, vibration resistant and highly reliable even under demanding conditions. They are particularly well suited to deep-cycle applications where steady, long-lasting power is required.

Group 27 GEL batteries are commonly fitted in motor homes, boats, yachts, mobility scooters, cleaning machines and medical equipment, as well as industrial backup systems. Although they will have a substantial charge upon delivery you still should charge them before first use and after every time you use it. If a period of six weeks goes by when the battery will not be in use then give it a top up charge to keep the cells fresh.
