Your new Samson Expedition XP208w battery will come more or less fully charged, but upon delivery and before first use, you should fully charge it. Ideally, immediately after use, charge until full and take off charge; never leave on longer than needed. If you are not going to use your device for 4 weeks or so, give the battery a top-up charge to keep the cells fresh for next use.

Installation: Fitting a new Samson Expedition XP208w battery will take at least ten minutes, not difficult but a bit fiddly. First, remove the four screws holding the handle on the back. This will give you more access to the screws holding the back panel. Next, remove the screws holding the back panel together along the outside. Gently pull off the panel. There are a few cables, but they are long enough to pull out of the way. You can then see the battery; it has two cables, red is for positive. The battery is held in place with two screws, with bolts on the back; you can get your fingers on them. Now the battery might seem like it is held in place, but it's just double-sided sticky tape; a firm pull will release it. Then just exchange the battery and reverse the order to put it back.
