Charge your new compatible replacement laptop battery when it arrives and first use, you have probably heard this before but its particularly important with laptop batteries, the reason is because they are made up of individual cells that combine to produce 11.1v and 4400mAh of storage energy, with natural self discharge that happens to all rechargeable batteries they will slowly lose energy and the voltage of them will change. some quicker than others so by charging them you reset of balance them out bringing them back together properly, quite often your old laptop battery might still have worked had you kept it charged.
If you are not using the battery then ensure you recharge every six weeks to keep the cells active, another issue can rise if you have it plugged in 24-hours a day seven days a week, if this is you then every couple of weeks let it discharge to about 25%, this cycling helps keep it conditioned.
