You should ensure that you fully charge your new batteries when they arrive and first use, they will come out almost fully charged so it will not take long but the key is always to have them charged, get into the habit of charging them as soon as you have finished using them, even if that is a few times a day, they are capable of many charges but only if the energy level in them is high so just replace it as often as you can. It's when the energy has depleted that the cells start to degrade, if you never use the last 60% of charge they will last considerably longer.
If for what ever they are not being used then a recharge every four weeks will be required to keep them in good health, but that does not mean leaving them on a charger for weeks on end unless its a very good one, and that is doubtful unless you have spent more on it that the scooter itself.
There are two batteries in this set, they are rechargeable, sealed lead, VRLA AGM, they will not spill and not hazardous
