When place your and receive an order you will note that the batteries will be almost fully charged when received, but you should still complete a charge before first use, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains like an alarm or UPS system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, while you only need to charge until it indicates that its ready, it probably will not take long and it is very important so not a step you should overlook, this first step is important so do not ignore it, unless as otherwise stated above, not charging first can reduce overall lifespan.
You probably will not even notice it but it can take up to ten charges and use in your equipment before you are able to receive and hold a full capacity charge in your batteries, this is all quite a normal part of the conditioning process, ensure that after every use that you put the batteries back on charge, letting them sit in a partially discharged state is not wise, do not attempt to deliberately discharge the batteries, it will not rejuvenate them, it will only do them harm and will reduce the life span, if for any unforeseen reason they are not being used make sure they are fully charged first, then recharge every 4-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours.
These batteries are deep cycle capable, which is essential in this type of application, the VRLA and AGM cells will not leak and not-hazardous so suitable for travelling, there is not maintenance required, except of course charging which we have covered on this page, both VRLA and AGM.
