it may well take a number of full charges and alternating use in your equipment for the battery to condition and be able to take a full capacity charge, this is quite normal, ensure that after every use that you put the batteries back on charge, letting them sit in a partially discharged state is not wise, discharging the batteries fully will only reduce their life expectancy, it will do them no good and will cost you money in the long run, if for any unforeseen reason they is an extended period where you are not using the batteries make sure they are fully charged first, then recharge every 4-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours
These are 12v valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries and will not leak they are both AGM and VRLA, of course they are the required deep cycle kind and they are not-hazardous so safe for on the road and indoors as well as travelling by aeroplane, but of course you should confirm this with your airline at point of booking your flight
