Take care of your new Rascal Vippi batteries
Because they are AGM, these batteries are technically maintenance-free, but that does not mean you can skip charging. There are numerous myths about the best way to charge, and you will most likely get different answers depending on who you ask. If you follow these guidelines, you should be fine. Charge until full upon delivery and before first use; this could take 5 minutes or many hours, depending on your charger. Second, never leave the battery discharged; after each use, you must charge until full as soon as possible. Lastly, if not going to be used for long periods then charge before putting away and top up charge every four or five weeks.
Installation advice
Once you have received your new batteries from us you will of course want to install them and get going. Installing your new batteries is a breeze, you will only require a screwdriver and ten minutes of your time. The first thing you should do is turn your battery box upside down (on something soft so you don’t scratch it) so you can see a set of holes around the outside of the box. At the bottom of these holes are screws which you need to undo and put to one side. Turn it back the right way up and the box will split in two allowing you to access the batteries. Now all you have to do is remove the old batteries and replace them with the new ones, paying very close attention to which wire connects to which terminal. Put the lid back on and secure the box with screws.
Please take extra care when installing the batteries and if need be, seek advice from a professional.
Environmentally Friendly
Sealed lead batteries, as the name suggests have a lot of lead in them. Lead is a precious metal that had to be taken from the earth but that also means it's recyclable and can be turned into something useful instead of going to a landfill. You should take your old batteries to your local recycling centre once you have finished with them, this also applies to your new batteries in years to come once they have supplied you with the freedom of using a mobility scooter.
