As standard, the Pride Go-Go Elite Traveller and lite have a pair of 12v 12ah batteries fitted, which is an offer to replace them. However, you should be advised that at the point of manufacture, there was the option to have the 17ah batteries as an extended pack. As these are different physical sizes, you will need the correct ones. If you know you have standard-fit 12ah ones, then these will replace, so add them to the cart. If you know you have the extended pack fitted, then in the search bar above, search for "Pride Go-Go-Elite Traveller Plus", which has the 17ah batteries as standard. They will replace yours or use the easy upgrade selectable options above.

Do not know if you have a 12ah or 17ah box!
If you need to know what you have, you can open your battery box to check. Or you could cheat a 17ah box measured to the top of the box (not the handle), which will be over six-inches high. Whereas a 12ah box will be around or less than five inches. If you take them out and there is nothing written on the side of the batteries, measure them. The specifications of this battery are below. If they are four inches high, it's a 12ah box and can take up to 14ah size. If they are six inches tall, it's a 17ah box and can take up to 22ah.

Now we have ascertained you are looking at the correct batteries. Just a little about them and how to look after them, so you do not need to replace them too often.

These are valve-regulated lead-acid batteries, VRLA, and absorbed glass mat or AGM. They will not leak, so they are ideal for a travel scooter because the battery pack may be on its side for transport. They are approved for air travel, but you should check with the individual airline encase they have any specific restrictions.

You can charge this type of battery many times to last a long time. However, every time you allow them to discharge below fifty per cent, that number will be reduced just that little bit. So charge after every use to minimise that and if not used for long periods, charge monthly.

Chemistry of battery: sealed lead-acid ( VRLA, AGM ).
The voltage of the battery: is 12v.
The capacity of the battery: 12ah.
Battery physical size:
Long - 151mm
wide - 98mm
high - 95mm
Terminals are flat spade end.

There are a few options open to you. These are the standard 12v 12ah batteries. We can supply a longer runtime of 14ah to offer more miles per charge. Links to these are in the alternatives tab or as an easy upgrade above.

If you already have 17ah batteries in your pack, they are a different physical size. We have a link to them below where you will find an option for 22ah ones to fit. Both versions can come as new, so if you need to know, you should check.

To make an educated guess of what battery box you have, if you do not already know, you might find the following useful:
The 12ah box's main body, not including the handles, will be about 125mm or 4.5 inches high. The whole box, including batteries, will weigh approx 8.5-kilos. This box can take 12ah and 14ah upgrades.
The extended 17ah box, again the main body, not including handles, will be about 200mm high, 7.75 inches, and weight will be approx 13 kilos plus; this box can take 17ah, 18ah and 22ah upgrades.

The batteries were delivered very quickly and were higher spec than ordered with no extra charge. My queries were also answered promptly

The batteries took over a week to arrive but fitting was straight forward (having replaced batteries before) however I have concerns over the longevity of the new batteries as they are the same manufacturer of the old batteries which had to be replaced after 14 months use. It says the batteries should last for 500 charges. As I have two battery packs which I swap every day the batteries had been charged less than 200 times. Watch this space!! --- PLEASE NOTE You will drastically reduce the life the batteries if you use more than 50% of the available charge, in fact below 80% will start to have an effect over time

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes you can replace 17ah with 22ah for extra miles, there will be a link on the alternatives tab.

You will find links on the alternatives tab or the easy upgrade section to the standard 17/18ah batteries and 22ah to replace your 20ah for a longer runtime.

This offer is for the batteries that go inside the case, the cases themselves are typically quite expensive, and then you need to get the batteries separately as they will not come with them.

The case is not sealed, turn the case over and you will see the screws holding the lid on. undo these, carefully turn the case back and lift off the lid to expose the batteries, a five minute job.

Yes we do, the link for these will be on the alternatives tab or through the easy upgrade section. We also supply extended 22ah and lithium versions of these which means a longer runtime between charges. More information and links for these will be on the 18ah battery page.

If as you say you have just bought the scooter second hand and have no history of the batteries then i would assume they are shot, they need to be charged every six weeks if not being used. You can check this by removing the batteries and checking with a volt metre if they are 12-volt or less after charging then they have no life left in them, if they are 12.5-volt to 13.5-volt then the batteries should be in fair to good condition, 13.5v being good.

Take it off the scooter, turn it over on a carpet or something t stop it scratching, undo all the screws, there is quite a few of them, carefully turn it back and lift off the cover you will then be able to see the batteries.

They come as standard as either a pair of 12's or a pair of 17's, they are different physical size so you cannot swap them over, but can put extended runtime ones in. if you already have 12's then you can go to 15's or lithium, link on the alternatives tab if you have 17's then you can go to 22ah or lithium, link on the alternatives tab.

No, they are a different physical size, you can however fit 15's or the lithium versions, the link for the these will be on the alternatives tab.

If you have 17ah batteries then yes the 22ah will directly replace them, we also are able to supply lithium versions.

Turn the battery box upside down, undo the screws, lift of the lid and exchange the batteries.

They either come as standard as a pair of 12v 12ah batteries or a pair of 12v 17ah batteries, they are different physical sizes, if you do not know what you have then take the lid off and have a look. it's held on by a number of screws from the underneath, after all you will have to do this to change them anyway. we can also supply extended batteries for both the 12ah to 15ah and the 17ah to 22ah.

Yes the same physical size, just more miles per charge, the link to these will be on the alternatives tab.

Yes if it came with 10ah you can upgrade to 15ah, they are the same physical size in this scooter. not to be confused with other scooters that have a 10ah of a different physical size.

Turn the box upside down on a carpet or something soft so you do not scratch it, undo all of the screws (quite a few), gently turn it back and lift off the lid and you will see the batteries. replacing them is easy just do it one at a time so you do not get it wrong, only a couple of cables on each, you can also take a picture of the cables if you need something to refer to afterwards.

Not the scooter, the batteries are in the box, clip it off the scooter and turn that upside down, undo the screws and you will see the batteries

The gogo traveller 4 can come from new with either a pair of 12ah or 17ah batteries. If you do not know what you have your should check before ordering, you cannot rely on what it says in your manual, they come with either depending on your dealer. If you really do not know then have a look, turn the box over, there are a number of screws, undo them to release the lid, if you have 12's they are 99mm wide, if you have 17's they are 77mm wide. On this page is the 12ah, at the foot of the page is link to extended 15ah to directly replace them, of if you have the 17ah then there will be a link further down the page and on that one a link to the extended 22's.

The manual quotes about 6 miles for the 12 amp hour batteries and 13 miles for the 18 amp hour batteries, that will be dependent on terrain and battery health. of course you will get more miles with our extended 15 amp hour or 22 amp hour version of the battery.

If you have a pair of 18's in there now then yes you can use the 22's as a upgrade, they will slip straight in.

You should recharge after every use and if not using every 4 weeks, we have a couple of alternatives, 15ah ones and also Lithium versions. Both are the same physical size and will slip straight in and both you can use your original charger, the 15ah will give you a few extra miles but you still need to be vigilant with the charging as mentioned, if you keep running your batteries down past 50% of its capacity then consider lithium as these can be run down all the way without issue and come with a very long warranty. the link to both of these can be found in the alternatives below.

The battery that goes in a 12ah box is about 4-inches high. so the box measured in height will be around 5-inches. but do not include the handle, the biggest you can fit in this box would be the 15ah ------------------ The batteries that go in the 17ah box are 6-inches high so the box will be taller than this. the largest you can get in this one is the 22ah versions.
