- CareCo Fenix battery
- CareCo Fenix Plus battery
There are two batteries in this set as will be required for the above powerchair models.
The CareCo-Fenix and Fenix-Plus are intended to be the ideal daily powerchair. It is a lightweight electric wheelchair that turns easily, disassembles quickly, and stores easily. The Careco-Fenix Powerchair has a small turning circle of only 24"', making it equally at home in narrow hallways as it is in busy shops, supermarkets, and high streets. With a top speed of 4mph that is ideal for pavements, speed adjustment buttons keep you in control of the powerchair. And the standard Powerchair's 15km range is impressive for a lightweight electric wheelchair of this size which can be increased by choosing one of our battery upgrades.
Careco-Fenix or Fenix-Plus
The main difference between the Careco-Fenix and the Fenix-Plus is that the latter can take both physically larger and ampere wise batteries. We can offer both with upgrades but only you will know which battery pack you require so it is recommended that you check what you currently have and compare. Below is listed the different batteries and which Fenix it is suitable for.
Careco-Fenix battery
12ah – Standard batteries that come with the powerchair.
14ah – Same physical size but higher ampere, allows for longer distance.
LiFePO4 10ah– Same physical size but LiFePO4 lithium upgrade, able to use 100% of its capacity.
Fenix-Plus battery
22ah – Powerchair came with 21ah so already this is an upgrade.
LiFePO4 20ah - Same physical size as 21/22ah but LiFePO4 lithium upgrade, able to use 100% of its capacity.
Looking after your new batteries
These batteries are sealed lead, non-hazardous, non-spillable, recyclable, and AGM, which means they are safe for air travel; however, you must notify the airline company before departure. Your batteries should arrive nearly fully charged, but battery care is critical; before the first use, fully charge the batteries. Putting the batteries on charge after each use is a good habit that will keep them in top condition for the longest time. If eight weeks have passed and the batteries have not been used, it is highly recommended that you fully charge them. Never charge the batteries for more than 24 hours as this can cause serious damage to them.
Installation and user guide
The manual has plenty of information on the maintenance of the whole powerchair, not just the batteries. This sort of information is necessary for a user or owner of a Careco-Fenix or Fenix-Plus so please feel free to download, keep and print off for future reference. Installation of the new batteries is not detailed in this manual but it is a very easy job. Twist the knobs on the front cover so you can remove the plastic cowling. You will now see the bag which houses the batteries, simply take the old ones out and put the new ones in.
