The Invacare Colibri mobility scooter is a transportable car boot scooter. It can easily be broken down into five pieces making it highly portable. as standard, it comes with a pair of 12ah batteries, but these can be upgraded to a different battery box that will hold a pair of 18ah batteries. These are a different physical sizes, so you cannot exchange one over for the other, so if you do not know which set you have installed, we would suggest you check before ordering. We can supply both types and have an extended runtime battery for both types, which we will point out further down the page.

As stated, we can offer you a few different options.
Extended runtime 14ah batteries to directly replace the 12ah.

Fitting is easy enough. Roll the box over and undo the screws holding the lid on. Roll it back and remove the cover, exposing the two batteries inside. Just replace one at a time, and you should not have any issues. You can, if you wish, take a picture, so you have a reference if you need it later.
These Invacare Colibri batteries are valve-regulated sealed lead acid. This is combined with absorbed glass mat technology, more commonly known as AGM, which is recommended for this installation. They will not leak so they can be thrown about in the back of a car and are not-hazardous so they are safe for public transport and even airline, although you should check at the point of booking your flight.
Charge your new Invacare Colibri batteries fully before first being used. This will not take long as they will be almost fully charged when you receive them. We would suggest fully charging them after every use. it will always be better to keep at least 20% energy in the cells. If not used for extended periods, a top-up charge every two months will help counteract the natural self-discharge that will occur with rechargeable batteries.

Or upgrade above. The 18ah and the 22ah physical size is 181mm x 77mm x 165mm. One way of cheating is if the box height without the handle is less than six inches at the front, then you have the smaller box, so it's 12ah or 14ah to upgrade for extra miles.
